Football Shirt Product Care Guide

Looking after your football shirt properly will help keep it looking its best for longer. Please read the following care instructions carefully before washing or caring for your shirt.

Please always check the care label supplied with your individual garment before washing or caring for your shirt. The guidance below is general advice — the care label on your specific garment takes precedence.

1. Before Washing

  • Always turn your shirt inside out before washing.
  • Check the garment care label before washing — follow any specific instructions provided.
  • Remove any items from pockets where applicable.
  • Do not soak the shirt for prolonged periods.
  • If treating a stain, do so gently. Avoid aggressively scrubbing the fabric, and take particular care around any printed areas, names, numbers, badges or patches.

2. Washing Instructions

  • Wash at a maximum of 30°C unless the garment care label states otherwise.
  • Use a gentle or delicate wash cycle where possible.
  • Always wash the shirt inside out.
  • Wash with similar colours to avoid colour transfer.
  • Do not use bleach or chlorine-based products.
  • Avoid harsh stain removers and aggressive cleaning chemicals.
  • Do not use excessive amounts of detergent.
  • Do not scrub, brush or aggressively rub names, numbers, badges, patches, sponsor logos or other printed or applied details.

3. Personalised Shirts — Important Care Information

⚠️ Please take extra care when washing personalised shirts.

Personalised printing — including names, numbers and any other applied details — requires additional care to maintain its appearance. Incorrect washing, excessive heat or the use of chemical products can cause damage to printed personalisation that may not be repairable.

  • Always wash personalised shirts inside out.
  • Do not scrub, brush or rub printed names or numbers.
  • Do not apply bleach or harsh chemicals to printed areas.
  • Avoid high temperatures — wash at 30°C or below.
  • Do not attempt to peel, pick, lift or otherwise manipulate any printing.
  • Excessive heat, incorrect washing or the use of chemical products can permanently damage personalisation. Please follow these instructions carefully.

4. Badges, Patches & Printed Details

Badges, patches, sponsor logos, names, numbers and other applied or embroidered details can be more sensitive to heat, chemicals and mechanical agitation than the shirt fabric itself.

  • Avoid applying direct heat to badges, patches or printed details.
  • Do not aggressively rub or scrub these areas.
  • Avoid using harsh cleaning products on or near applied details.
  • Take care when ironing — never place an iron directly onto any badge, patch, printed name, number or sponsor logo.

5. Drying

  • Air dry naturally whenever possible — this is the recommended method.
  • Do not tumble dry unless the garment care label specifically permits it.
  • Do not place the shirt directly on radiators or other high-heat sources.
  • Do not use excessive heat to speed up drying.
  • Do not wring or aggressively twist the shirt, as this can distort the fabric and damage printed areas.

6. Ironing

  • Turn the shirt inside out before ironing.
  • Use a low heat setting and follow the guidance on the garment care label.
  • Never place an iron directly onto names, numbers, badges, patches, sponsor logos or any other printed or applied details.
  • Do not leave the iron stationary on the garment.
  • Where possible, avoid ironing over printed areas entirely.

7. What NOT To Do

Please avoid the following to protect your shirt:

  • ❌ Do not bleach.
  • ❌ Do not tumble dry unless specifically permitted by the care label.
  • ❌ Do not use excessive heat at any stage of washing, drying or ironing.
  • ❌ Do not iron directly over printing, badges or patches.
  • ❌ Do not scrub printed areas.
  • ❌ Do not use harsh chemicals or aggressive cleaning products.
  • ❌ Do not soak for prolonged periods.
  • ❌ Do not peel, pick or lift printing, badges or patches.
  • ❌ Do not alter or modify the shirt in any way.

8. Storage

  • Always store your shirt clean and completely dry — storing a damp shirt can cause damage and odour.
  • Keep away from excessive heat and direct sunlight, which can cause fading over time.
  • Avoid placing heavy objects over printed areas, badges or patches.
  • Hang or fold carefully to avoid creasing or putting pressure on printed details.
